Blessings,
Committees, don't forget we have a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday September 9) night! 6:30 pm at Knox United Methodist Church. This is for Registration, AM Food, PM Food, Greeters/Ushers, Hostess, Church Awareness, and Correspondence. Nov. 1st 2014 The Ultimate Makeover: Becoming Spiritually Beautiful
Speaker: Sharon Jaynes http://sharonjaynes.com Singer: Sherri Danae Verse: Proverbs 31:30 - Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Colors: Teal and Salmon 2015 Speaker: Dawn Smith Jordan www.dawnsmithjordan.com After a lovely brunch at Beth’s house (thanks Beth!!) these were discussions at the kick off meeting… Check out the www.knoxladiesseminar.us Sherry Bennet has been working on it and it looks great! Cathy said there is a seminar April 25 and 26 at McKeever called Feel Me Lord. Tammy Smith is speaking. Cathy is going anyone interested in more information let her know. Anita Renfroe was a speaker discussed and recommended. http://www.anitarenfroe.com Cathy would like a screen for the prayer room to make it a little more private. Penny will talk to her church about a screen. Cathy asked about offering books and tracts again this year. She has many tracts from last year that we decided to use again. She can also go ahead and buy books because she is always under budget for her committee. Cathy had a concern about wanting to open the seminar with a prayer to set the tone of the day. This didn’t happen last year. Penny discussed a prayer for blessing on the day would be great. Penny said the break in the morning was not a good fit. It seemed too early in the day and too long. Linda expressed that the 2 morning sessions and the break in the AM were in the schedule to accommodate Alissa the guest speaker in the afternoon. It was also to make lunch later in the afternoon because the ladies are still full from breakfast. The schedule is tight and will be tweaked each year. It is a learning process J Penny also said when we are praying for the seminar this year think of the number and pray for 500 people. Maybe if we have a goal to reach we will have more people attend! Gretchen said attendance was around 350 in 2013. Gretchen also said we have around $800 in the budget. It is enough for postage for the mailings but be aware that the budget it tight. There was discussion about new people who are thinking about joining the seminar for hostess, stage decorations and registration. Penny said she would be willing to lead stage decorations. Linda will follow up with the people that were called and see who is still interested. Pam is adding fruit to the breakfast menu. She is also adding a table with breakfast foods for diabetics. Lighter food was discussed for lunch meal. – Salads? Croissants? Pam mentioned that she would like to have the Ugandan Gold coffee to serve during breaks and she would like it for the AM breakfast. Decaf if they have it and tea too. Linda can find out about the coffee. Sam showed us a salmon t-shirt with teal writing on it with the theme and a picture of a lady looking in a mirror. Ideas for stage decorations incorporating mirrors were discussed. Beth has 70 fabric stars she sewed for the table decorations. She found mirrors and stands to set on the fabric stars. The mirrors will have different inspirational sayings written on them. The mirrors will be collected and put in the Christmas shoebox ministry. The fabric stars will be made into a quilt. We can’t wait to see the quilt! She may have orders to make more once we see the finished product!! J Discussed using the hymn: Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me. Could add this to the list for group singing? There were a few comments about not having any hymns last year. Gretchen said we have the gym this year. There was discussion on putting vendors in the gym and the bookstore. Pam mentioned treating the ladies as guests of honor “Ladies Day Out” and having a few vendors selling products for ladies. Discussion against having it turn into an ALF day was discussed and everyone agreed that was not the focus. But a few more tables may draw more people who have never been there before. T-shirt sales were down from last year. Maybe because the ladies had other things to purchase that day other than t-shirts? If anyone knows of local missionaries who would like to set up information tables please let Gretchen or Linda know. Penny discussed still having some things in the hallway to make it feel decorated. The speaker and singer tables are still to be in the hallway but the information tables and vendor tables will be moved to the gym so the hallway is not so congested. If anyone knows if Grove City is having their ladies seminar this year please let Gretchen know. Cathy mentioned that we are putting out time and energy into something that is touching the lives of over 300 people and then they are going home to their families and community and touching even more people with what they have learned and experiences. Taking on a leadership role, working silently behind the scenes, being second in command… no matter where we are planted God honors our obedience and willingness. He knows our weaknesses and strengths. Penny added, “He doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.” Be willing to be called. ;) Hello All!! I hope everyone is staying safe and warm in this wild Pennsylvania weather! I'm sure many are ready for Spring soon. I just wanted to pass on some information to you: 1st: Tammy Trent, who was our guest singer in 2008, is returning to Pennsylvania. She will be in McKean County on March 8. For more information and registration, go to www.wctl.org. It is sponsored by an Erie County Christian radio station, WCTL. Their website includes all the information you need to see Tammy Trent. According to the radio representative they have tickets still available. 2nd: I've attached a devotion from Sharon Jaynes, our speaker this year. She is part of Proverbs 31 and Girlfriends in God. Their website is www.girlfriendsingod.com and her website is www.sharonjaynes.com 3rd: We will be looking for some new committee chair persons this year. If anyone is interested please contact me either at [email protected] or by cell 814-229-8992. Specifically we need help with Hostess, Stage Decorations, and Registration. Most who are leaving these positions are willing to mentor newcomers or have written out detailed pointers. All committees have a job description outlying what they need to do, so no one is ever just "thrown" in to it!!! As always, we always need helper in all other areas, as well. Especially publicity and AM Food. So come join us in this adventure!!! It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to Carol Monrean, who went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, this morning. Carol was instrumental in starting the Knox Ladies Seminar and for 25 years was the heart and soul behind it. Please keep her family in prayer as they go through this season of grief. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Friday October 4, at 11 AM at the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox with Rev. Rick Osberg officiating. McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. To view and share photos or leave an online condolence please go to www.mcentire-weaverfuneralhome.com The seminar will be here in only 5 weeks! Tell us about your experiences with past seminars and what it's meant to you...
