Acts 8:29-31 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Luke 24:45 Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. Mark 16:15 Go ye into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. We are not all called to be missionaries to the world. Perhaps the mission field the Lord has assigned to you is your neighborhood, your workplace, or maybe even your church. Not all churches teach the gospel. Some churches need to have an undercover Christian to bring the good news to a hurting congregation. We don’t necessarily need to be Bible scholars. We just need to be open to a Holy Spirit adventure. Clarifying truth from partial truth or outright lies of the enemy can be challenging to our relationships and egos. We fear being embarrassed by our lack of understanding. A close walk with the Lord can limit some of our failures. What we must remember is that not everyone will want to know the truth. They are comfortable in their lack of understanding. We are not responsible for their response. We are only responsible to share the Lord with them. The Holy Spirit will draw them to the Lord. We can be a part of the process but we are not responsible for the outcome. That is the Lord’s job. Psalms tells us we should study the Scriptures to show ourselves approved. We need to spend time in the Word not just to learn from Him but to learn more about Him. When you love someone, you want to know all about them. The same is true about the Lord. Ps 103:7 tells us that God led Moses to understand not only what God does but why He does it. If we ask the Lord to help us to understand His Word better so that we can share it with others more accurately, He will give us understanding. James 1:5 tells us that if we ask, the Lord will give wisdom generously. Learn from Him and He will take the fear out of sharing Him with others. |
