![]() Ephesians 6:16 In addition to this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Genesis 15:1 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield, your very great reward." Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him." God is our shield when the enemy comes against us in our most vulnerable places. Satan knows the areas that we can be attacked. He knows the areas that we have the least strength to fight him. Those can be habits, attitudes, trials, temptations or desires. Satan is sure to sneak attack us in those points of weakness. He doesn't come at us in a straight out attack, he simply offers excuses why it is alright to do the things we shouldn't. The enemy knows just the right time to place temptation in our path. He knows our weaknesses and our failures. He whispers in our ear thoughts and encourages us to rely on emotions rather than facts. He offers us lies and distortions of God's word. He distracted Eve by making her question God's word. He twists God's word just a little so that we aren't sure what is true and what is not true. "Did God really say?" "Would God make you go through this if He really loved you?" "You can't do that, why would you even want to try?" "God doesn't have time for you right now" "You aren't smart enough, pretty enough, talented enough, etc." When we saturate ourselves in God's word, we can know the truth and the truth can set us free. We can see through the lies of the enemy and and counter his attacks with the truth. We can learn to use our shield of faith to block the fiery darts of lies and condemnation that the enemy slings in our direction. We will always be tempted and challenged in this life but that does not mean we have to give in to the temptations placed in our path. It does mean we have an advocate in Christ Jesus. He stands in the gap for us, interceding with the Father for us. He took on Himself our sins and paid our debt so that we are forgiven, then adopted us into His family. He said we are no longer to be called His servants, but His friends. 2 Samuel 22:2,3 He said: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior, from violent men You save me." If we run to Him when temptation raises it's ugly head, He is faithful to protect us. He can shield us from the attacks so that we can stand victorious in Him. He will not keep us from temptation, He will stand with us, however, so that we can be strong in His power and resist the enemy. His word tells us that is when the enemy will flee from us. Rejoice in His protection and love and become familiar with His word. He honors those who know Him and call on Him in times of need and rejoicing.

![]() Definition of faithful: 1 steadfast in affection or allegiance : loyal 2: firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty : conscientious 3: given with strong assurance : binding <a faithful promise> 4: true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original <a faithful copy> 1Samuel 2:35 I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his house, and he will minister before my anointed one always. Nehemiah 7:2.....because he is a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do. Nehemiah 9:8 You found his (Abraham's) heart faithful to You and You made a covenant with him..... Luke 12:42 Then the Lord answered, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants............ 1Corinthians 4:2 Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. 1Timothy 1:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that He considered me faithful, appointing me to His service. Revelations 2:13 ....Yet you remain true to My name. You did not renounce your faith in Me,.......... When I began researching the background for this, I thought that the title was redundant but I felt the Lord lead me to continue. I found that faith and remaining faithful are not interchangeable. Being faithful to the Lord a midst trials and difficult times can be done even when our faith is wavering. The Lord is asking us to be unswerving in serving Him even when our faith needs bolstering. Continuing in the face of failure, rejection and not knowing where we are being led helps to build our faith. Being faithful and steadfast is a stepping stone to the maturing of our faith. Just as a seed needs to be given time to sink roots and seek a source of nourishment, so we need to remain faithful to the service or mission that our Lord has assigned to us. As we persevere, our faith also grows and matures. The old phrase of 'bloom where you are planted' helps to put into perspective that we are to honor God's wisdom and offer our best efforts even when where we are planted is not our first choice. He, the Lord, will offer to us the greatest honor that can be given to His chosen ones. We who endure to the finish will hear Him say, "Well done good and faithful servant." ![]() Read Rev 2:1-3:22 To him who overcomes: Rev 2:7 I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, Rev 2:11 Will not be hurt at all by the second death. Rev 2:17 I will give the hidden manna,...a white stone with a new name written on it. Rev 2:26 And does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations. Rev 3:5 Like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and His angels. Rev 3:12 I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Rev 3:21 I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne. God has not promised us a life of ease and comfort. He has promised us everything we need to persevere and be victorious in a world that watches everything we do and waits for us to fail. The world does not understand that our God wants us to excel in the challenges He puts in front of us. He guides and sustains us. He places before us choices every day. God sent His Son to be a stumbling block, a light and a lamp. We are to follow the path that He has set before us despite the twists and turns. We will climb mountains and descend into deep valleys. We will lose sight of our path at times and see clearly at other times, but we will always know that our destination is eternal and beyond our best, most exalted dreams. Christ has walked this path before us. He knows and has experienced all that we have or ever will. He has told us that there is nothing new under the sun but what man has survived before us. He has promised that He will not let us suffer more than what we can bear. He will never leave us or forsake us. He resides deep within our hearts and minds and spirit. Prov 3:5,6 tells us to trust in the Lord and don't trust in our own understanding. Trust in His omnipotent ways and He will lead you home to His throne room in the new heaven with streets of gold and gates of pearl. ![]() Numbers 23:19,20 God is not man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Titus 1:2 ...a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time... Hebrews 6:18-20 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. James tells us to stand firm and not be blown about like the waves of the seas. In this day and age when nothing is considered to be pure truth, when we have situational ethics, it is hard to stand for anything. We struggle to stand for what we believe in because we try to see others point of view and we are encouraged to be tolerant to the beliefs of others. Standing for what we believe in is unpopular. We have a great High Priest who stood for His Father to the death. We have a redeemer Who would not bend or waiver in the face of torture and crucifixion. He faced down the Pharisees and the Sadducees. He stood for the hurting and the rejected. When we came to faith in Christ, we became heirs to the promises scattered through out the Bible. We became grafted into the family of God. God did not make any promises that He could not or would not keep. That is a truth we can stand on for all eternity. |
