![]() Ps 59:16,17 But I will sing of Your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. O my Strength, I will sing praise to You; You, O God, are my fortress, my loving God. Ps 27:13,14 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 28:6,7 Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song. When the days start out with emotional clouds and we feel like crawling back into bed, we know to seek His face and praise Him for yet another day. Singing songs of praise, and asking for His guidance for your day can change your focus. In the depths of worries and fears, we can be distracted from His guidance. Singing to the Lord can refocus our thoughts and bring us back into communion with the One Who wants the best for us. He knows our thoughts and desires for us to seek Him. He rejoices with us and grieves with us. He offers a strong arm to lean on when we are weary. When our wings just don't seem to have any soar left, He is the wind beneath our wings and we can rest in Him. He will carry us to the heights of joy. He will lift us above the problems and the worries so that we can see them from a different point of view. He hears our cries for peace and mercy. He sees the things that threaten to drag us down to the depths. He knows the enemy's plans and He enjoys thwarting those plans. Sometimes, He allows us to be strengthened by the trials but He never leaves us alone in those trials. The Lord's goal is to be with us as we walk the golden streets of the New Jerusalem. He is waiting to hear us singing in the throne room of the new heaven. We will see the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. He waits for us to eat from the tree of life. We will see the leaves which are for the healing of the nations. The curse that has caused all our pain and sorrows will be gone. We will see His face and His name will be on our foreheads. (Based on Rev 22:1-4) He is coming and we will never again wake up with fears and pain and sorrow. Come, Lord Jesus.

![]() John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Over the last several months, we have had many challenges in our family. We have had to quietly struggle against what I believe is attacks of the enemy. He has thrown much against us and we are still on our feet. Wobbly at times it seems, but still on our feet. We waver at times. We question many times. We may not be model Christians in how we act and proceed but we are still secure in God's love. We may wonder what He has in store for us. We may wonder if we can handle all He is allowing. But we KNOW that He will walk with us through this battle. We know who we are in Christ. We know we are IN Christ, just as He is in us, just as God the Father is in us. We may be in need of support and prayer, but we don't often question His love or compassion. One of the most difficult things I have had to deal with, is the platitudes that well meaning friends will throw our way. They are offered as band aids to cover the hurt and pain. I know the scriptures that are offered. I know the references to God's mercy and grace. But it seems there are times when silence, a hug and an offer to keep us in prayer are a more powerful comfort than all the words. I appreciate the words. They are very relevant to our situation. Sometimes it feels they are poorly timed. I know we will make it through. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It just sometimes feels like that light is an oncoming train. The battle is ongoing. There is not an end in sight as yet but I know Who is fully in charge. He knows the end from the beginning. I am seeing some blessings happening that I have prayed for. I know that all things do work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 slightly paraphrased) I know that when this battle is over we will be able to help others walk through this particular valley. I know that joy comes in the morning and that when this time of darkness is overcome by the Light of the world, we will rejoice. I know that we will be stronger and I hope we will be closer to the Lord. When you find yourself faced with friends that are in the battle, pray for wisdom and guidance that you will be used as the Lord desires. Pray that the words you use will be what is needed and that you will be a blessing. God may have placed you with these friends for just such a time as this. ![]() Matt 11:6 Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of Me. Isaiah 55:8,9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." One of the biggest lies of the enemy is that we, as the children of the Most High, will never be tested or tried. The enemy wants us to believe that because we are co-heirs with Jesus, that we will live prosperous, carefree lives. He wants us to believe that no death or illness or pain will be allowed to invade our lives. If God truly loves us, we would never suffer distress or loss. Nowhere in the Word of God does He tell us we will never suffer. In James 1:12, we are told that 'when' we are tested, He, God will give us the crown of life. The first chapter of James tells us to persevere through all the trials. God has promised that He will give wisdom generously without finding fault when we seek Him and ask for it. When we are faced with difficult times, when we just don't understand why God would let these things happen, we need to remember that God knows the beginning from the end. He doesn't always tell us the whys of life. We are to lean on the everlasting Arm. It will sustain us. Many of Jesus followers left Him because many of His teachings were too hard to understand. When Jesus asked His disciples if they too would leave, Peter said "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." (Luke 6:60-70) When life gets tough and we don't understand God's ways, we need to trust in the Lord and not trust in the world's answers. The Lord has given us a love letter that is 66 books long. He has told of His love by creating a perfect world that we messed up. He sent His Son to lead us in the ways of righteousness and we sent Him to the cross. Jesus raised from the dead, healed, forgave and taught. Yet in all of our great wisdom, we deny His words are truth. We reword His Book to say what we want it to say, not what God really says. He loves us in spite of what we do. When you don't understand the pain and trials, ask Him why. He may not tell us but He still walks with us. He still offers comfort and compassion. He wants to hold us in His gentle arms. He wants the most priceless gift we can give Him, our trust. |
