![]() Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. We, as Americans, are spoiled with the amount of food that is easily available. We hunger for nothing. We want for nothing. We have so many 'things' that we feel are necessary to our daily lives. We have our phones stuck in our ears or grasp tightly in our hands. We are perpetually dissatisfied with life and all that goes with it. I have found an answer to the hunger problem. Food often leaves us overfed yet a short while later we go seeking more. Not so with the Word of the Lord. It satisfies in a way that things and food could never do. The Word of the Lord fills us with eternal sustenance. We go from His presence in the Word with a feeling of comfort that all the comfort food in the world could never give. We gain neither calories not cellulite when we feast at the Lord's table. We do, however, gain understanding, peace, righteousness, mercy and grace. So much of what we gain in His Word is given freely and with great joy by the Lord. Come to His table with hunger and you will be filled. The Lord will provide you with eternal manna that will never spoil. It is new every morning and still fresh at night. There are no dishes left to wash and no table to clean. There is simply a deep satisfaction that comes from being in the presence of the Lord our God and savior.

![]() Ephesians 6:13b,14a And after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then. Sometimes, when we feel like we are beating against the air and everything we do shows no effect, we choose to take our own initiative and try our own way. We have studied to show ourselves approved. We have invited the Lord to search our hearts and see if there is anything there that should not be there. We have put on the whole armor of God and still feel frustrated and sometimes even defeated. This is the hardest part of the battle. The part where we must wait upon the Lord. We don't feel the wind beneath our wings. We run but we do feel tired. This is where we are to stand firm, not to compromise so we are more acceptable to the world, not to be a wave on the sea, pushed here and there by the winds of life. We are to stand on the Rock in the midst of the stream of political correctness and refuse to be swayed in the name of tolerance. This is a battle Christians can't win. This is a battle the enemy and the Lord of Hosts will ultimately fight. (We know Who wins!) When you come to the point of no more options, stand firm and watch the Lord work wonders in the midst of an impossible situation!! Lord, make this day the day that I don't weigh my options or look for my own solutions. Please help me this day to stand firm and wait on you to show me Your way. Thank you for Your instruction manual and for our freedom to study it openly. Thank you for Your Son who gave His all so that we can set aside our all and watch You work in our lives. ![]() Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1- 4 Jesus sat in the temple and watched the people. He observed the rich making a show of putting their tithe into the temple treasury. He watched a poor widow bless the Lord with all she had. He wasn't watching what they gave as much as how they gave. He wasn't counting how much they gave, He was watching their motives in giving. The widow gave from the heart to express her love for the Lord and her trust in Him to provide for her needs. She is forever immortalized because she didn't want the attention and immediate praise. I can't wait to talk with her in heaven. She is one neat lady and will be one of the first I seek out. The religious leaders did their best to stop the Lord from teaching the truth. They sought attention. They received it. When we celebrate eternity with the Lord, they won't be there. They knew the truth but did not want the truth. They knew the prophesies but did not want to give up control of the people. They received their reward. Our reward waits for our eternity. Their reward is gone, stolen, rusted or spent. Our reward is walking on streets of gold, living in mansions and worshiping the Lord, face to face. |
