Jesus sat in the temple and watched the people. He observed the rich making a show of putting their tithe
into the temple treasury. He watched a poor widow bless the Lord with all she had. He wasn't watching what they gave as much as how they gave. He wasn't counting how much they gave, He was watching their motives in giving.
The widow gave from the heart to express her love for the Lord and her trust in Him to provide for her needs. She is forever immortalized because she didn't want the attention and immediate praise. I can't wait to talk with her in heaven. She is one neat lady and will be one of the first I seek out.
The religious leaders did their best to stop the
Lord from teaching the truth. They sought attention.
They received it. When we celebrate eternity with the
Lord, they won't be there. They knew the truth but did
not want the truth. They knew the prophesies but did
not want to give up control of the people.
They received their reward. Our reward waits for our eternity. Their reward is gone, stolen, rusted or spent. Our reward is walking on streets of gold, living in mansions and worshiping the Lord, face to face.
